Beneath the Full Moon

my brain wants to play
my heart wants to tell stories
not much accomplished

The midnight is here,
but still the air is too warm --
mind will not settle.

I can see you, leaf,
growing gold among the green,
there to lead the way.

Wind, you bring the dust
I write my name in today
on the window ledge

Skies promise thunder
booming before the sunset --
dry in the mountains.

Words drift off the page
as I nod in midday heat,
victim of summer.



(this was me this afternoon....)

The wind chimes' singing -
Wind's song  louder for us with
little mindfulness.

Life - a summer rose,
unfurling in the sunlight
petal by petal

heavy blue-gray cloud
breaks apart like a puzzle --
sunlight on flower

smoke in the dark night
and a glow of distant fire
this, summer's burden



Just thinking about what summer is supposed to be like on this rainy day...
