Writer's Block: Occupied

Have you participated in Occupy Wall Street? Why or why not?
Yes, I have participated...more online than in person, but I am constantly there, getting the word out and doing what I can.

Why? because the system in America is reaching the tipping point between the small number of haves verses the growing number of havenots.  Because half of the people in America now fall into the low income range, according to the US Census Bureau.  Because I want my grandson to have a chance at life, and even my kids.  Because I believe in all the American good myths, like liberty and justice for all, even though I know the history of this country has been a constant struggle for it...and now we live in a land where it's easy to see that something's really wrong with how that's playing out.  Because I resent rule by a plutocracy.  Because my family has given blood in every war in this country since the American Revolution, and this is not what they bled for.

Because it's right.

But I don't drown my LJ with it.  This is my quiet place away from the politics.

Interesting thought actually. Although I didn't like some of what Occupy Wall Street is doing, I prefer more about writing instead of going out and protesting. The pen is mightier than the sword? But you are right, at least there are people trying to change things. Where do you normally talk about politics? Do you have a blog I could go read? (sorry, I think I once saw a link but I haven't been doing much on the computer lately.)

Thanks for posting.

Also, it's great that these people are trying to exercise their right to redress a grievance by protesting. As long as isn't violent, it's great that they are actually trying to do something about it.

I don't think you know about it, but the Occupy movement in America isn't even put in the news in France; I don't know if that's normal or not, but I wouldn't know a thing about this if you didn't talk about it :x

But I say you're right to protest. Sometimes it's the only way to be heard.

There are times you have to really work to get international news...I work hard at it, but European news doesn't filter in to the US that much either, unless you go to European sources...which I do some, but it's biased to the UK, and I need more that have English Language editions.
