Writing journal: 5/25

Let me state it now, and shout it to the heavens, so that stupid muse of mine gets the message:  I HATE writing prose in First Person.  Get it, Pink?  You want me to keep working on this story, you let me slip back into being a fly on the wall.

Ah, that feels so good to say that.

So, what I have done today:

Vignette called Pie

Poem called Lillith

Unpublished poem about the god Pan for my mythology series, but I am not satisfied with it, so it may get redone.

Worked some more on my longer story, but I am just totally frustrated with writing first person.  I am probably going to try to salvage it by seeing if I can redo it 3rd person.  I only got maybe 100 more words done on it today before I realized I just don't feel like I have enough control over things in first, especially sense I don't do much in the way of internal monologues.  Bleh.

And I got to release my latest IY poem, so one for the fanfic category.

Didn't do any cardio today.  Will try to do some before I get to sleep.

Chalk me up as someone else who doesn't enjoy writing first person POV. Its hard to get into a character's head and attempt to limit perspective like that, so kudos to those who do it, and do it well.

Good luck with reworking your stuff! I've got a couple like that on my slate as well. Its frustrating to sit and stare and know something's wrong, but not knowing how to fix it. Grrr muses, plz to be a little less oblique in your processes, lest I go insane!

Yeah, I don't know why I was convinced I should try to write this in first person. I'd do better writing it all in third, then rewriting it in first.

I can handle first in short pieces, but it's just not my natural prose voice.

I do save everything I write. Amazing what can be recycled...
