Hot Dang!

IYFG award results are coming in, and it looks like After the End came in 1st for best canon.

Since I completed it as a long oneshot, it's the last time it'll be up, so that made me happy it won on its last time up.

Looks like Izayoi's Choice and I Saw You in the Springtime took first and second in poetry as well.

Yay! Many thanks for everybody who nom'd, seconded, and voted! I do appreciate it!

Why thank you, Sir. I appreciate that.

And congrats to you, too, on "There shall come soft rains."

I still can't believe a Sess/Kag story placed for Best Canon, but overall, I was rather pleased with the results.

We're having a tiny dispute over the winners' list about a stray placement, but otherwise - the newsletter will be posting shortly :)

Congrats on your wins/placements!

Wouldn't be the first time...and the placement and the vote results no doubt reflect who wanted to participate!

It's probably going to have to end up being "Canon universe" rather than pure canon pretty soon, anyway. Not many people are writing canon fic right now, especially longer pieces (or at least not of a caliber that I would nom.)

Indeed...but for all the Dokuga fen nominated and voted, they came up strangely thin on the last day.

And that's all I'll say about that in a public place, LOL :P

Well, indeed, and that's part of the problem, I suspect - participation has gone way down in the last year or so, which is rather surprising to me considering the new anime and all. It'll be interesting to see if any policy questions are raised after this latest round of results.

Wouldn't be surprised if they start talking about killing canon as a genre...of course, they wouldn't dream of killing AU/AR, but if there's no canon to contrast it with, why have a special category? (of course, nobody would listen to me if I said that. I have said it before.)

Well a lot of quality writers just aren't playing with Inu much any more. And a number of people have slowed down their output. And there are crazy people like me who are writing a huge serial, but because I write it out of sequence, I can't put it in a collection, so it can't be up for nomination every quarter...so I am pretty much out of serious competition in the big categories.

Hope the new Anime revitalizes or brings in fresh blood.
