Poem: Gray Sky

Again, non IK...and Poetry Muse still seems to be in a funk!  LOL.  But I think she got into the interweaving of repetitive lines with action in this one...the rhythm beat through my head like a drumbeat...

Gray Sky

I walked with my love
beneath a gray sky,
beneath a gray sky in the morning.
I walked with my love
beneath a gray sky
and reached for his hand
and gave a soft sigh
as he turned to me and told me goodbye
beneath a gray sky in the morning.

I watched my true love
beneath a gray sky
beneath a gray sky in the morning.
I watched my true love
beneath a gray sky
as he turned and left
without telling me why;
a single tear trickled as I tried not to cry
beneath a gray sky in the morning.

Now I contemplate false love
beneath a gray sky,
beneath a gray sky in the morning.
Now I contemplate false love
beneath a gray sky;
how it tricks the heart
and makes you want to fly
until your wings fall off, and you only want to die
as you tumble from the sky in the morning.
