Poem: Sunshine After Rain

Sunshine after too much rain
warmed her face,
as she sat down in a pool of light.

She closed her eyes,
letting the warmth take her in,
drying out the darkness
of the days before,
easing her pains.

He came
and sat beside her.
For long minutes,
neither spoke.

Silently, he ran a single finger
along the edge of her hand
outlining each finger.

“Sorry,” he murmured.

With a long sigh,
she let go of her darkness,
and looking up at him
took his hand in hers.
