Poem 13: On the Hillside

Not sure where this poem came from, but here it is, number 13 in my Napowrimo series.  Not IY

On the Hillside

I will stay,
I will stay
until the rains of summer end,
until the rains of summer end –
on this hillside,
here I will linger.

When I leave,
when I leave,
who will weep for me?
who will weep for me –
only the crickets on the hillside
where I have lingered.

She will weep,
she will weep,
the little child who gathers flowers,
the little child who gathers flowers
on the hillside
where I have lingered.

The cold winds blow
the cold winds blow
through the branches of the pine trees,
through the branches of the pine trees
where I will lay my head
on the hillside
when I leave.

If you remember,
if you remember,
bring a lily to place beside me,
bring a lily to place beside me
where my head will lay
on the hillside
when I am gone.
