I almost never comment on LJ about politics, but this story got my goat...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance.

(more story here)

I suspect it's a trial balloon to see what type of reaction they'd get, but hell, a person is injured doing service for the country, the country owes him or her care for his or her injury.

That's not negotiable in my book.

And that's all she wrote.

There's been a lot of talk about perhaps raising the cost of insurance to enlisted persons and vets, both, (here's an example of the talk going around)  but I figured that was just chatter about ideas the Congressional Budget Office was floating around.  It's their job to play with ideas.

This is different.  And this, according to CNN has been confirmed by Shinseki.

And from the comments in the full article, I suspect I'm not the only person who finds it displeasing and just wrong.
