Poem: Winter Day

(just another IK moment)

She put down her sewing and sighed
as she wrapped the blanket
around her more tightly,
thinking of warm woolen sweaters
instead of hemp and cotton,
and electric heaters,
and hot chocolate
and oden.

He handed her a cup of tea,
and draped his jacket over her shoulders,
and sitting behind her,
drew her into the circle of his arms,
her back to his chest
surrounding her with his warmth,
and she thought about
long lonely nights,
and too much noise,
and cold beds,
and a world without his warmth,
and knew she had made the better choice.
