Poem: One Hot Morning

I did not get enough sleep...perhaps I should go back to bed.....

One Hot Morning

I lay here in the shadows,
on this late spring day that thinks it’s summer,
listening to the fan,
which drowns out the birds
who sing with the dawn
loud enough to wake me some days,
wrapped up in the soothing shadows
that tell me it is day,
but yet are dim enough to sleep in,
a cooling break
for the blue sky and morning heat.
I wouldn’t get up at all,
just lay here,
suspended between sleep and waking,
except for the dog licking my hand
who doesn’t share my heat angst,
and leaving the fan
and the shadows
I hear the birds call once again –
looking out of the window
at the blue sky
and the brown mountain,
I don’t know if that’s a good thing after all.

Poem: Snowmelt

The mountain god flows
down the valley in springtime,
drip by melted drip,
a wave of green in his wake,
marked with a splash of flowers.

(I was thinking of the last bit of snow to melt from the last mountain nearby that has a snow cap)

Woe is me...

I spent too many hours looking at summaries of old fics at, and my soul is sick...only AFF or the King in Yellow can affect one worse...

Or maybe I just need to read something non-fanfictiony...

I did have to finally put on the AC.  It's hot here.  I long for the Oregon coast, where I would want my sweater....
