Draft One is done.....

Long live draft 2.

Draft 1 was 52,731 words.  I learned a lot of stuff, like how to keep writing even when you don't want to.  I finally broke through a mental barrier that always had me bogging down.  Now I also have a copy of Write or Die to keep pushing me to get word count out...

So now I'm working on the revision.  Since I have the plot done already, now I can take my time to make it say stuff the way it ought to.  My internal editor is purring.  Pink, on the other hand, shrugs, and says, "It's a job."

Congratulations! =) What an effort, and it sounds like a really fun story! I hope trying to salvage it for draft two doesn't drive you completely insane, LOL.

I am hoping it doesn't! It'll come along, I think. I just need to fill in what I ploughed through to get the plot to move along. I'm gonna post it under flock as I move along, comment will be welcome.

Isn't that such a nice feeling of accomplishment with having the first draft in your hands? Hopefully the second draft will come along smoothly.

I think nano is a great writing experience just because you learn to crunch out the text. I heard recently how all creative efforts are 5% inspiration and 95% hard work. (This from my Folklore studies professor.) It is so true with writing.
