More on MM....

Have heard from a few people who have seen it (not me) that MediaMiner had a catastrophic server crash and they are working to reestablish their web presence.

That would mean that the Go-Daddy page is the placeholder index page for the domain name.

That is good news.  Here's wishing their techies the very best, and may the gremlins who torture server work stay far away....

Edit

FINALLY saw the official announcement:

We've had a catastrophic hard-drive failure last night, which brought down the server. We are working hard with our ISP to bring a replacement server online to restore service. I hope that the site will be back up in operation within the next 12 hours.

In the mean time you can use the forum, which is operational. http://forum.mediaminer.org/

Thanks for posting this.

I was right in the middle of a great story when it crashed, and I'm jones'ing bad to read the rest.

I hope they get it fixed soon, too.

I saw that, shortly after I posted here.

I'm so glad, because MM would be a terrible loss, to a lot of fandoms and original writers.

Whew! My heart just sank when I read your post. MM is my primary posting and reading site. I am so glad to see it is back up! However, when I looked up my screenname, only 5 or 6 of my stories show up. I had to go into my profile to pull up the others, including my two big ones. Ugh.

Where did you come across this announcement? The last mod-comment I can see is the one saying 'Happy Holidays from MediaMiner' dated Dec. 2009!

I figured MM would go down one of these days because with a lack of front-page updating like that, it appeared that the mods weren't as interested in the site. Anime Spiral had the same thing happen, and it never really recovered.

It showed up as a replacement for the go-daddy page, and they do have it up and running again, although I had to wipe out my cookies to get it to log in...

Yeah, when they don't update their home page like that, it does make you wonder how much they are putting their attention into it any more; maybe they do in the forums, but I don't go there enough to know.

I really need to dl some of my fav old stories over there...some are nowhere else, and the writers have long since given up IY fandom.

Ah well. Back to my Nano story...MM's problems were way too distracting yesterday....

I was wondering what happened. No victims on my end with the exception of a review for LSR that I suppose I will never have the chance to read :( Sad times.

Glad they were able to get it all fixed!
